Approximately 45 km south of Hurghada, Abu Soma and Soma Bay are situated on a peninsula surrounded by sparkling turquoise waters, soft sandy beaches and impressive desert scenery.

Holidays in Soma Bay are relaxing and quiet - a perfect place to escape the rush of every day life. Soma Bay is home to an 18 hole USPGA Championship golf course, which hosts several tournaments, and Les Thermes Marins Spa & Thalasso centre, located at the deluxe La Residence des Cascades.

The reefs of the Soma Bay area are in good condition, making the area a haven for divers and snorkellers, with most hotels on the main Soma Bay stretch featuring access to reefs from the shore.

About the South Coast Area

Across the Red Sea, east of the Sinai Peninsula, are a number of resorts on mainland Egypt. These include Hurghada, El Gouna, El Quseir and Marsa Alam.

The area is characterised by sandy beaches and ideal conditions for a variety of watersports, including a year-round sea breeze that also makes these resorts slightly cooler in high summer than their sister Red Sea resorts on the Sinai.

The region enjoys comparatively easy access to Luxor, and these resorts make an ideal second, relaxing destination after a Nile Cruise or sight-filled stay in Luxor (see multi centre & Tailor-Made holidays).
